After finishing a degree at Winthrop University in 2005, Christie made Savannah her home. In 2007, she completed a Master’s degree in Historic Preservation from SCAD. Her first job was in commercial construction, which she intended to be a long-term career. Unfortunately, the 2009 recession ended those dreams, and a brief career in property management led her to obtain her real estate license in 2012.
Growing up in Hartsville, SC, Christie was inspired by her father, who was in the construction industry. She enjoyed visiting historic homes with him and witnessing their restoration firsthand. Christie’s parents were constantly working on a project at home; they were the original "flippers" before it became a trend. She completed her first flip in 2013.
Christie spent six years as the top agent at a large firm in Savannah. In 2022, she decided to start her own brand. She teamed up with long-time friend and colleague, Jonathan Haley, and her husband, fellow realtor Patrick Bergen, to create Salt Marsh Realty.
