Market gauge is calculated using active listings and pending sales from the most recently available reporting period (May 2026).

Year-over-year, Hardin County’s typical home value in May 2026 inched up a few percent, while the median list price climbed much faster, rising about 19% from a year earlier. Compared with Texas overall, local prices are still lower than the state median sale price of roughly $344,000, which can make the area feel relatively affordable even as values trend higher.

In the latest month, buyer activity picked up, with homes sold increasing about 5% from last year and pending sales jumping nearly 18% year-over-year. Inventory has been roughly steady, with active listings down only slightly from a year ago and months of supply at 3.4 versus 5.3 months across Texas, keeping conditions tilted toward sellers.

Momentum in May also showed up in speed and pricing dynamics, as median days on market dropped sharply from April to 45 days, even though they remain higher than a year ago. At the same time, the average sale-to-list ratio has slipped to about 88%, and virtually no homes closed above their list price, signaling that buyers still have room to negotiate even in a seller’s market, and Agent Pronto can help both buyers and sellers connect with an agent who understands these nuances.

Learn more about what Hardin County has to offer.

Hardin County offers residents a welcoming, tight-knit community with abundant outdoor recreation, reliable local services, and growing opportunities for families and small businesses.

Hardin County combines small-town communities with practical access to jobs, schools, and outdoor recreation. Centered around Kountze and extending to Silsbee, Lumberton, and Sour Lake, the county offers a range of neighborhoods, from established in-town streets to newer subdivisions with larger lots.

Commuters appreciate proximity to Beaumont, while families focus on local school districts and everyday convenience. Lumberton and Silsbee feature grocery options, medical offices, and local dining, including spots like Honky Tonk Texas that double as social hubs. For a quieter pace, Kountze and rural areas provide more space and a stronger country feel without losing access to services.

Outdoor life is a major draw. Residents spend weekends at Village Creek State Park for paddling, hiking, and camping, or explore the Big Thicket National Preserve, known for its biodiversity and boardwalk trails. Local events and history programming are supported by places like the Big Thicket History Museum and the Kountze Public Library.

Whether you are relocating for work, moving up for more space, or downsizing after years in the area, understanding flood zones, school attendance lines, and backroad commute routes is crucial. Agent Pronto connects you with a local Hardin County real estate agent who knows these details, helping both buyers and sellers move forward with less stress and more confidence.

The time, attention to detail, and dedication she showed throughout the entire process were incredible. She made everything so easy, and whenever we had questions, she responded quickly and with exceptional knowledge. We could not have asked for a better realtor and would recommend her time and time again to anyone looking to buy or sell a home.
