The typical home value in Brown County is projected to be $61,530 for the month of June. May’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the county to be $90,000—down 48.72% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $306,200 in Kansas for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $314,900 in June.

Brown County had 11 new listings and 9 listings that went under contract in May, decreasing the area’s total available inventory to 27—down 12.9% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further decreased in June.

Of those 27 active listings, 33.33% reduced their price in the month of May. The median listing price for homes in Brown County grew 54.26% from April to May, bringing the current median listing price to $199,000. Based on projected data for June, listing prices may continue to grow.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract fell year-over-year. In May 2025, the median time for a listed property to go pending was 98 days, compared to 133 days in May 2024. However, in recent months the median number of days from listed to pending appears to be rising. That trend is predicted to have carried through to this June.
