December’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the county to be $255,000—down 1.83% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $340,400 in Texas for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $341,800 in January.

Hopkins County had 22 new listings and 20 listings that went under contract in December, decreasing the area’s total available inventory to 153—down 13.56% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further decreased in January.

Of those 153 active listings, 14.38% reduced their price in the month of December. The median listing price for homes in Hopkins County fell 8.63% from November to December, bringing the current median listing price to $227,500. Based on projected data for January, listing prices may continue to fall.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract rose year-over-year.
