He grew up on the Monterey Peninsula. Richard spent his early years working at his parent's businesses. They owned and operated motels in several locations. He has lived in Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, and Carmel so he knows these areas very well. He also had two restaurants in Carmel and has dealt with numerous visitors from around the world in addition to many local customers.
