Hancock County currently leans toward buyers, with the local gauge signaling a buyer’s market. Months of supply sit at about four, higher than the Illinois average of 2.9 months. Active inventory is lower than a year ago, yet still enough to give buyers options and negotiating power.

Home values and asking prices are moving in different directions over the short term. The typical home value is down more than 16 percent from last month, while the median list price has slipped only slightly month over month but is up nearly 13 percent compared with last year.
