Year-over-year, Hood County home values in July 2026 edged up, with the typical home value rising about 3 percent while the broader Texas median grew closer to 1 percent. At the same time, homes are taking much longer to sell than a year ago, as median days on market surged and only about 5 percent of sales closed above list price.
In the latest monthly snapshot, inventory is deepening, with months of supply jumping to 7.2 compared with the state’s 5.8 months, signaling strong leverage for buyers. However, active listings are slightly lower than a year ago and homes sold fell by double digits year-over-year, suggesting some sellers may be waiting on the sidelines.
Looking at July alone, the median list price climbed more than 7 percent from last year while new listings ticked up modestly, hinting that sellers who do enter the market are aiming higher.
