Lemhi County rewards people who prize room to roam and easy access to wild country, with the Salmon River corridor shaping daily life and weekend plans alike. The county seat, Salmon, anchors a network of small communities that includes Leadore and offers quick day trips to Challis in neighboring Custer County. Trailheads, boat ramps, and backroads unfold in every direction, opening the door to fishing, rafting, big-game seasons, and star-filled nights.

Public lands define the backdrop here, from the canyons and peaks of the Salmon–Challis National Forest to riverside history at the Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural & Educational Center.
