Home prices in Macon County are edging up compared with last year, with the typical home value up about 4 percent year over year. Homes sold also increased roughly 8 percent from a year ago, showing stronger demand. Pending sales are up about 12 percent year over year, even as new listings are down sharply from last April, pointing to tighter inventory conditions.

Looking at April 2026 specifically, the typical home value reached about $136,000, while the median list price was just under $149,000. Homes are taking longer to sell than a year ago at a median 28 days on the market, but that is still a notable improvement from March, and months of supply has slipped under two months, reinforcing Macon County’s seller’s market designation.

Momentum picked up this spring, with homes sold jumping about 31 percent month over month and new listings rising more than 18 percent. Roughly 24 percent of properties closed above asking price in April, and the average sale-to-list ratio climbed to nearly 98 percent, signaling that sellers are achieving prices close to what they ask. Compared with Illinois overall, Macon County offers much lower typical sale prices and leaner inventory than the state’s three months of supply.
