The typical home value in Carteret County is projected to be $558,450 for the month of March. February’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the county to be $565,800—up 6.75% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $378,000 in North Carolina for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $379,750 in March.

Carteret County had 157 new listings and 91 listings that went under contract in February, increasing the area’s total available inventory to 624—up 6.85% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further increased in March.

Of those 624 active listings, 14.9% reduced their price in the month of February. The median listing price for homes in Carteret County grew 22.96% from January to February, bringing the current median listing price to $600,000. Based on projected data for March, listing prices may continue to grow.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract fell year-over-year. In February 2026, the median time for a listed property to go pending was 126 days, compared to 178 days in February 2025. In recent months the median number of days from listed to pending appears to be decreasing. That trend is predicted to have carried through to this March.
