“We had a very quick response from 2 agents. Lisa was first and had a property for us to look at. She learned a lot about us and what we wanted during that first walk through. She quickly found another, more suitable property. We spent lots of time e-mailing and calling and figuring things out. By the time we went to see the current property, she was pretty sure we would like it. I really liked it from the first look but, by the time I saw my "new sewing room" and walked the large yard, I was in love. April’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the county to be $310,000—up 30.94% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $239,300 in Iowa for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $239,950 in May.

Monona County had 10 new listings and 3 listings that went under contract in April, increasing the area’s total available inventory to 26—up 23.81% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further increased in May.

Of those 26 active listings, 30.77% reduced their price in the month of April. The median listing price for homes in Monona County grew 5.25% from March to April, bringing the current median listing price to $149,450. Based on projected data for May, listing prices may continue to grow.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract has been fairly steady year-over-year. In April 2025, the median time for a listed property to go pending was 11 days, compared to 11 days in April 2024. In recent months the median number of days from listed to pending appears to be steady. That trend is predicted to have carried through to this May.
