Hammond real estate Market Report.

Information and statistics on the latest trends in the Hammond real estate market, updated for April 2026. *

Over the past year, Hammond has seen home values climb, with typical home values up about 21.08 percent to roughly $270,000. That pace is faster than Tangipahoa Parish overall, where typical values are about $265,000 and up 15.77 percent year over year. At the same time, the number of homes for sale has slipped, with inventory down 6.35 percent from a year ago.

In February 2026, buyers were seeing a median list price of about $200,000, even as typical home values sat higher, signaling some room for negotiation. Homes spent a median of 109 days on the market, and with 6.6 months of supply and 25.42 percent of listings cutting prices, conditions leaned toward a buyer’s market. Only about 95.46 percent of asking prices were achieved on average, and no recent sales closed above list price, which reinforces that sellers are having to price carefully to attract offers.

Looking ahead to March 2026, typical home values are projected to edge up further to about $310,500, while the projected median list price of $186,250 points to ongoing pressure on sellers to remain competitive. Inventory is expected to ease slightly to around 57 active listings, and pending sales have fallen 47.37 percent from last year even as new listings dropped 33.33 percent. With Hammond currently rated a buyer’s market at 59 on the market gauge and trends shifting in different directions for prices and activity, both buyers and sellers can benefit from using Agent Pronto to connect with a local agent who understands these dynamics.

Learn more about what Hammond has to offer.

Hammond offers residents a welcoming, family-friendly community with affordable housing, strong schools, diverse dining and cultural options, plentiful parks and outdoor recreation, and a thriving network of small businesses and community events.

Hammond stands out from nearby Baton Rouge and New Orleans with a relaxed, small-city rhythm anchored by a major university and a historic downtown that locals actually use every day. Southeastern Louisiana University brings arts, athletics, and research to town, while classic brick storefronts along Downtown Hammond host restaurants, boutiques, and community events that keep sidewalks busy into the evening.

Families appreciate the everyday convenience of Hammond Eastside Elementary and other Tangipahoa Parish schools, plus easy access to medical care at North Oaks Health System. Outdoor time is part of local life, whether kids are playing ball at Mooney Avenue Park or residents are enjoying the trails and nature programs at North Oak Park. Regular events at the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts and seasonal festivals keep a strong sense of community identity front and center.

For current residents, the real estate market reflects Hammond’s mix of older neighborhoods and newer construction near major corridors that connect to Ponchatoula and regional employment hubs. Buyers who prepare financing early and understand local inventory can move quickly when the right house appears. Sellers who price carefully and stage for both local and commuter buyers are well positioned to succeed. Agent Pronto can connect both buyers and sellers with a Hammond agent who knows the community, its timing, and how to prepare for a smooth move.

“I had the pleasure of working with Tracy Thomas on the acquisition of my latest group of homes—eight properties involving negotiations with 21 different sellers—and I can say without hesitation that she was exceptional from start to finish. Tracy navigated a complex transaction with confidence, precision, and a level of professionalism that is hard to find. Her ability to manage multiple parties, keep everyone aligned, and still drive the deal forward without losing momentum was impressive. What sets Tracy apart is her trustworthiness and transparency. She is upfront, communicates clearly, and anticipates challenges before they ever become problems. In an industry where details matter and timing is everything, she stays one step ahead. Simply put—phenomenal individual, outstanding realtor, and someone you absolutely want in your corner when the stakes are high.”

“Agent Pronto got me in touch with Patricia Halley Conaghan. She is, hands down, one of the best real estate agents around. I am in Oregon so it was long distance relationship. The property was no where ready to sell when I first listed. Many e-mails, phone calls, texts, and photos later we were able to get this property ready to sell. She lined up contractors and oversaw the work. It did not take long to sell with some creative financing. I couldn't be happier than I am with Patricia's work and support. She is AWESOME!!”
