Year over year, Fall River County’s typical home value has slipped modestly while South Dakota as a whole has seen prices edge higher. Median list prices in the county, however, are up compared to last year, signaling sellers are still aiming higher despite softer sale prices. Buyers are also seeing more choice, with active listings climbing notably from a year ago.

Looking at the latest monthly snapshot for May 2026, the typical home value sat around $304,000, down sharply from April but only modestly lower than last year. Median list price was about $331,000, and active listings rose to 94, pushing months of supply down to 4.5, closer to a balanced level than the double‑digit supply seen earlier in the year.

Sales activity has picked up, with homes sold jumping more than 50 percent year over year in May even as new listings were roughly flat. Properties are also moving faster, as median days on market dropped compared with both last month and last year, though homes still take close to three months to sell on average. No recent sales have closed above list price and the average sale-to-list ratio is near 95 percent, underscoring Fall River County’s strong buyer’s market compared with the state’s leaner 3.6 months of supply.
