May’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the county to be $175,000—down 37.72% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $284,800 in Michigan for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $292,700 in June.

Keweenaw County had 8 new listings and 2 listings that went under contract in May, increasing the area’s total available inventory to 16—up 23.08% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further increased in June.

Of those 16 active listings, 18.75% reduced their price in the month of May. The median listing price for homes in Keweenaw County fell 3.53% from April to May, bringing the current median listing price to $424,000. Based on projected data for June, listing prices may continue to fall.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract fell year-over-year.
