She quickly found another, more suitable property. We spent lots of time e-mailing and calling and figuring things out. By the time we went to see the current property, she was pretty sure we would like it. I really liked it from the first look but, by the time I saw my "new sewing room" and walked the large yard, I was in love. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $239,300 in Iowa for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $239,950 in May.

Mills County had 10 new listings and 6 listings that went under contract in April, increasing the area’s total available inventory to 28—up 12.0% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further increased in May.

Of those 28 active listings, 35.71% reduced their price in the month of April. The median listing price for homes in Mills County grew 41.24% from March to April, bringing the current median listing price to $387,000. Based on projected data for May, listing prices may continue to grow.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract rose sharply year-over-year. In April 2025, the median time for a listed property to go pending was 22 days, compared to 13 days in April 2024. However, in recent months the median number of days from listed to pending appears to be falling. That trend is predicted to have carried through to this May.
