July’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the city to be $237,000—up 9.94% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, county-level data pegged home values at $249,950 in Taylor County for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $252,480 in August.
Abilene had 224 new listings and 202 listings that went under contract in July, increasing the area’s total available inventory to 501—up 1.21% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further increased in August.
Of those 501 active listings, 23.15% reduced their price in the month of July. The median listing price for homes in Abilene fell 1.18% from June to July, bringing the current median listing price to $246,500. Based on projected data for August, listing prices may continue to fall.
The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract has been fairly steady year-over-year. In July 2025, the median time for a listed property to go pending was 45 days, compared to 46 days in July 2024.
