September’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the city to be $1,535,000—down 4.78% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, county-level data pegged home values at $1,632,000 in San Mateo County for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $1,623,000 in October.
San Mateo had 90 new listings and 75 listings that went under contract in September, increasing the area’s total available inventory to 128—up 2.4% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further increased in October.

The median listing price for homes in San Mateo grew 17.74% from August to September, bringing the current median listing price to $1,839,000.
