June’s finalized data reported the typical value of a home in the county to be $152,500—up 181.11% over the previous 12 months. For comparison, state-level data pegged home values at $357,000 in Texas for the most recent reporting period. That number is expected to float around $360,300 in July.

Wheeler County had 4 new listings and 2 listings that went under contract in June, decreasing the area’s total available inventory to 16—down 20.0% from the previous month. Inventory is projected to have further decreased in July.

Of those 16 active listings, 37.5% reduced their price in the month of June. The median listing price for homes in Wheeler County fell 70.81% from May to June, bringing the current median listing price to $115,000. Based on projected data for July, listing prices may continue to fall.

The number of days that homes have been on the market prior to going under contract rose sharply year-over-year.
