Later, as a small business owner, I honed my customer service, business, and marketing skills. During the process of finding our own home, my husband and I collaborated to redevelop an old home site into a small subdivision. We designed our home and acted as general contractors, gaining valuable knowledge about home design, construction practices, and working with subcontractors. Building a house was a great test of my project management abilities.
